CASP beginnings

Shipbourne Parish Council produced a Climate Strategy and Action Plan in 2022 which set out a series of steps. One of which was to set up an independent community climate action group to help the Parish meet the challenge of carbon neutrality by 2030.

Once Climate Action Shipbourne, CAS, was set up it was soon appreciated that Shipbourne and Plaxtol had similar carbon footprints, and common challenges and aspirations to becoming carbon neutral. Plaxtol Parish Council supported CAS and members from Plaxtol village joined in 2023, now CASP.

Aims and activities

CASP is committed to help us all take both small and larger steps to reduce our community and individual climate change impacts so that we can look forward to a bright future for the next generation.

Get to Know Us

CASP aims to support residents with advice on energy efficiency and everyday actions that will lower our carbon footprints. We believe that through support for collective community action we can deliver our parishes to carbon neutrality within 5 years.

We ran ‘the Burning Issue’ workshop in September 2024, which focussed on reducing the use of fossil fuels in our homes.

The findings from this event led to our first major project, CASP HOME ENERGY PROJECT’ funded by the Government’s Community Energy Fund. This will address the barriers to home energy improvements and how to make changes easier and more affordable for us all.
